Privacy Policy
Last updated September 1, 2026.
Briefed exists to read the news for you, not to read you. This policy covers everything we collect and why.
What we collect
Your email address (to sign you in and send your brief), your briefing preferences (topics, style, delivery time, and your location for weather), and your reading history inside the product (the briefs we sent you).
If you connect your Google Calendar, we receive a read-only token and use it only to list your events inside your brief. We never create, edit, or delete calendar events, and we never store event contents beyond rendering your current brief.
How we protect your data
All traffic between your browser, our service, and the providers we use is encrypted in transit (TLS). Stored data - including your preferences and any connected-account tokens - is encrypted at rest by our database and hosting providers. Access to production systems and data is limited to the people running the service and protected by two-factor authentication. Connected-account tokens (like your Google Calendar token) are used only for the feature you connected them for, and you can revoke them at any time from the settings page or from your Google account. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your account, your data is deleted from our systems.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: calendar data is used only to render your brief, never for advertising, never sold, and never read by humans except as needed for security or with your explicit request.
What we never do
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train models. Analytics are limited to what the service needs to run (delivery and error logs).
Your controls
You can disconnect your calendar, change any preference, or unsubscribe entirely from the settings page at any time. Unsubscribing stops all email. To delete your account and data, email hello@briefed.email.
Services we use
Email delivery (Resend), hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), and payment processing for premium (Stripe). Each processes only what it needs to do its job, under their own security programs.
